Selkirk RCMP are currently investigating a computer scam where a person is granted remote access to a personal computer and then charges for alleged services completed.

On April 1, 2013, Selkirk RCMP received a report from an individual that granted remote computer access to another individual that claimed he would perform a cleaning of his computer system. Once the cleaning was performed the individual was offered anti-virus software. He declined the software but was pressured to provide his credit card number to pay for the cleaning of his computer system. The credit card was billed $180.00.

Police remind the public to guard against providing personal information and to use only reputable or trusted companies.
