Motorcycle owners and even more fans of the Winnipeg Jets will soon be able to purchase their favourite specialty plate. This announcement was made by Justice Minister Andrew Swan, minister responsible for Manitoba Public Insurance.
“The response to the original offering of Winnipeg Jets’ plates was overwhelming,” said Swan. “Jets fans are truly passionate about their team. An additional 5,000 Jet plates for automobiles will soon be available to these fans who wish to display their hockey loyalties.”
The additional Winnipeg Jets plates plus the new specialty motorcycle licence plates will be available to Manitobans on Friday, April 19 at more than 300 Autopac brokers and service centres across the province. Motorcycle owners will now have a variety of plate options available to them: Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, veterans and Winnipeg Goldeyes, with firefighter motorcycle plates available later this summer. The cost of the motorcycle plates will be $70, with $30 of that fee going toward the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation, Winnipeg Blue Bomber Football Club, Winnipeg Goldeyes’ Field of Dreams Foundation, Manitoba Fallen Firefighters Memorial and the Manitoba Firefighters Burn Fund.
“We anticipate the very positive response to the motorcycle specialty plate,” said Swan. “We recognize that motorcycle owners also wish to display their favourite licence plate. That opportunity is now available.”
