Two Long Plain First Nation men are facing numerous drug related charges after police recently found them to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana.
On Monday, April 1, 2013, just after 3pm, Central Plains RCMP on patrol stopped an unregistered vehicle, a 1997 Ford pick-up truck, on Yellowquill Trail on Long Plain First Nation, Manitoba.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the two occupants in the vehicle were in possession of 9 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of marijuana and a quantity of cash. The passenger of the vehicle was also found to be in possession of a police-style baton.
RCMP report that 24-year-old Ross Frederick Kequahtooway of Long Plain First Nation has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order. Kequahtooway has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on May 6, 2013.
Also charged in this incident is 18-year-old Nicholas Kequahtooway of Long Plain First Nation. Nicholas Kequahtooway has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on May 6, 2013.
