A young girl perished earlier this week after falling into a small body of water just east of Kane, Manitoba.
On April 9, 2013, shortly after 1:30pm, Morris RCMP and local area EMS received a 911 dispatch to PR 332, just east of Kane, Manitoba. Police were advised that a young child fell into a body of water, was pulled out but was unresponsive.
Morris RCMP and local EMS immediately responded. CPR was initiated and the child was transported to the Morris Hospital, however, resuscitation efforts failed and the child perished.
Police learned that the child, a 3-year-old girl, was playing near her home with other children of the family, when she wandered off and fell into a small pond.
RCMP report that an autopsy will be scheduled in the coming days and that foul play is not suspected.
RCMP would like to remind the public of the increased water hazard ditches and ponds present to children with theĀ spring thaw.
