A La Broquerie woman is dead after her car collided with a semi-truck earlier this morning, just south of Steinbach.
Earlier this morning, at about 10am, Steinbach RCMP and emergency personnel responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 12, about four miles south of Steinbach.
Investigation indicates that a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling north on Highway 12 when it collided with a southbound Freightliner semi-trailer. The Monte Carlo was reported to have lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic. Road conditions at the scene were reported to be slippery, with heavy snow and slush.
RCMP report that the driver of the Monte Carlo, a 20-year-old woman from the RM of La Broquerie, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi, a 47-year-old man from Winnipeg, was not injured.
Police say that there were no other persons or vehicles involved.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be assisting with the ongoing investigation.
