On May 3, 2013, just before 5pm, Carman and area RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at an intersection on Road 18 West, one mile north of Homewood in the RM of Dufferin.
Initial investigation indicates that a Dodge pick-up truck, pulling a trailer, was eastbound at the location when it collided with a southbound 1999 Oldsmobile Alero. Police say that the eastbound lanes at this intersection are reported to be controlled by a yield sign.
RCMP report that the driver of the Oldsmobile, a 27-year-old woman from Beausejour, Manitoba, and her 7-year-old son were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Dodge pick-up truck, a 32-year-old man from the RM of Dufferin and his passenger, a male youth, were transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
There were no other persons or vehicles involved.
An RCMP traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation.
