RCMP made 26 arrests and laid an additional 13 charges this past week as part of an ongoing Crime Reduction Strategy.

Portage la Prairie RCMP organized a project that was put in place in partnership with the Manitoba Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit. The project was rolled out with much success.

On May 15 and 16, 2013, a combined effort between police officers from the Portage la Prairie RCMP General Duty Members, General Investigation Section, Traffic Services, Amaranth RCMP, Treherne RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service resulted in 28 warrants of arrest being executed throughout Central Plains as part of a Warrant Apprehension Project.

During the execution of the warrants, 26 arrests were made with an additional 13 charges being laid. As well, two youth who had been missing from Winnipeg, were located and three charges under the Highway Traffic Act and one under the Liquor Control Act were laid.

Central Plains RCMP are committed to preserving the peace and upholding the law, creating a safe environment within our communities. With this in mind, RCMP members will continue, on a daily basis, to identify and locate individuals with outstanding warrants.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of individuals with outstanding warrants are asked to contact their local police detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
