On May 29, 2013, just after 4am, Island Lake RCMP received a complaint of a deceased male on the main road in Wasagamack First Nation. Witness reports and evidence collected at the scene indicate the man had been struck by a vehicle.
The deceased has been identified as a 19-year-old man from Wasagamack First Nation. An autopsy has been scheduled in Winnipeg.
As a result of the investigation, RCMP have arrested and charged 18-year-old Trevor Ronnie Knott with second degree murder. Knott remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on May 31, 2013.
Investigation has revealed that the accused and the victim were known to each other and were socializing prior to the incident.
Island Lake RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services, the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst continue to investigate.
