On June 1, 2013, just after 2pm, Grandview and area RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal single vehicle collision. The collision occurred on road 150 west, about one half kilometre south of Highway 5 in the RM of Hillsburg.
Police investigation indicates that a grain truck was traveling south on road 150 west when it ran into a washed out section of road, dropping approximately 15 to 20 feet.
RCMP report that the driver, a 46-year-old man from the RM of Gilbert Plains, was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other persons or vehicles involved.
Initial reports indicate that the presence of warning signs may have been moved or displaced at the location.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
