Steinbach RCMP Detachment members were kept busy this past weekend responding to 40 calls for service on June 8, 2013.

Calls ranged from driving complaints to the arrest of a male for careless use of a firearm following a call of shots being fired near Forestry Road 13 in the RM of Reynolds.

Just after 1am, police were called to a loud party complaint on Giesbrecht Street, and shortly after 2am, police were dispatched to a local business to assist with an intoxicated male that was causing a disturbance.

Police arrested two individuals in separate incidents relating to impaired driving calls. Both drivers provided breath samples and now are facing charges for impaired operation, and driving over .08.

The baseball equipment shed at the La Broquerie Arena was reported to have been vandalized overnight. Culprits damaged the door to the equipment shed, and rummaged through the contents scattering equipment on to the field. Investigation continues, and police request any information that the public has.

At approximately 3:15pm police received a dispatch that a residence in the RM of Ste. Anne was engulfed in flames. Police attended along with ambulance and the Ste. Anne Fire Department. The residence suffered heavy damage, but all of the occupants were out of the residence at the time of the fire. The Office of the Fire Commissioner has deemed the fire not suspicious.

Numerous calls for service were received over the day regarding traffic related matters. Police responded to complaints of vehicles damaging ditches in the RM of La Broquerie, to vehicles passing when unsafe in Mitchell, and motorist driving without due care in the City of Steinbach. Several of the drivers involved were located and investigations are ongoing.
