Keystone Agricultural Producers vice-president Dan Mazier is enthusiastic about a new agreement between the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences in Winnipeg, and Brandon’s Assiniboine Community College. The new agreement will expand learning opportunities in the discipline of agriculture.
Under the agreement, students who complete a Diploma in Agribusiness at Assiniboine Community College (with a minimum B average) will receive two years of course credit towards completing a four-year Bachelor’s of Science in Agribusiness at the University of Manitoba.
“This means a lot to the families of western Manitoba because it provides new educational opportunities and options,” said Mazier, who farms about 25 kilometres northeast of Brandon.
“It will open the door to a degree program for ACC students who are initially thinking about an agriculture diploma, but then decide to go further. It will also allow those planning to obtain an Agri-Business degree to stay in the southwest area for their first two years of their university education.”
Interested students should contact ACC or the U of M. This option is already available to U of M diploma grads.
