At about midnight on July 2, 2013, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Trenton was notified of an overdue Bell 206 helicopter near Gillam, Manitoba.
A Royal Canadian Air Force CC130 from 17 Wing Winnipeg was dispatched to conduct a search of the area.
Shortly before noon on the same day, a crash site was located in a remote area. The site is approximately 50 km west of Gillam at Gull Lake. The wreckage is believed to be that of the overdue helicopter.
RCMP Investigators and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team are attending the remote scene. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and the investigation continues.
