On July 14, 2013, just after 4am, Carman area RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a fatal collision on Highway 30, just south of Altona, involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

Initial police investigation indicates that a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero was traveling south on Highway 30 when it struck a male youth that was lying on the roadway. The youth, identified as a 17-year-old male from the RM of Rhineland, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP report that the driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old man from the Altona area, was not injured.

An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be assisting with the ongoing investigation.
