On August 1, 2013, just before 5pm, Brandon RCMP as well as local emergency services, were dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a train. The incident occurred about 5 miles east of Brandon.
Initial investigation indicates that a 2006 Toyota Rav4 was northbound on Highway 468 when it collided with the side of a westbound Canadian Pacific train at a level crossing. The vehicle was reported to have struck the side of the train near the engine.
Police say that the crossing is reported to be equipped with crossing signs and flashing lights.
RCMP report that the driver, an adult male from the Shilo area, was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. There was no one else in the vehicle and there were no other injuries related to this incident.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
