From an investigation that started this past July, RCMP executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrants on two private properties, one residence and one outdoor area, located on Hall road near Petersfield in the RM of St. Andrews. Participating in the search were officers from the Selkirk RCMP with the assistance of RCMP Selkirk General Investigative Section and members from the RCMP East District Enforcement Team and RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit.
Police say that close to 700 marijuana plants were seized along with a tractor and a quad from the outdoor area, along with a truck and a firearm from the residence.
RCMP report that a 43-year-old Petersfield man was arrested on highway 9 in between Clandeboye and Petersfield and will be facing charges of production of a controlled substance (cannabis), possession for the purpose of trafficking(cannabis) and careless storage of a firearm.
