On September 5, 2013, at about 1pm, Headingley RCMP were advised of a theft of copper cable at a hydro substation in the RM of MacDonald.

Early police investigation suggests that the theft occurred some time on September 4. A section of a fence was extensively damaged by the culprit(s) in order to steal the grounding cables in the fence. It is estimated that about $20,000 worth of copper was stolen, however, the replacement costs of the fence is expected to be about $100,000.
