On September 8, 2013, Oakbank RCMP were contacted by the Winnipeg Police Service and advised they had received a report that a 15-year-old female of Winnipeg had been sexually assaulted near Oakbank, Manitoba.
Through investigation, initiated by the Oakbank RCMP, it was learned that on September 5, the victim was sexually assaulted while at an outdoor location in the RM of Springfield.
Police say that on September 10, Oakbank RCMP arrested Chauncey Elijah Mustard, 31, of Dugald, Manitoba. Mustard has since been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance and trafficking a controlled substance. In addition, he also faces four counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance on September 7 and September 9, 2013.
