Brandon RCMP have released the name of the driver of the SUV killed April 28, 2009 in a fatal collision on Highway 340, three miles south of Shilo Manitoba.

Shane Schofield, age 28 of Wawanesa Manitoba, was killed when the North bound 2008 Hyundai Tucson he was driving, collided head on with a Farm implement that was proceeding south on the highway. Schofield was a member of the Canadian Armed forces, based out of CFB Shilo.

Investigation has determined that the North bound Hyundai being operated by Schofield, crossed over the center line colliding with the implement being pulled by a John Deere tractor. The slow moving tractor and  implement were displaying the proper warning lights and flashing beacons.  The driver of the farm implement did not sustain any physical injuries.

Weather conditions at the time were overcast and windy.

The crash is still being investigated by the Brandon RCMP, with the assistance of a Traffic analyst from Westman Traffic Services unit and the Office of the Chief Medical examiner.
