A 17-year-old youth from the RM of St. Andrews is facing numerous theft related charges after being arrested this past week in Stonewall, MB.
Overnight on both on September 15 and September 16, Stonewall RCMP received several reports of garage break-ins, thefts from vehicles as well as four thefts of vehicles in Stonewall and surrounding areas. The suspects targeted cash and electronic equipment. A suspect vehicle had been identified during the course of the investigation, however, it could not be located.
On September 17, again, the culprit(s) struck again in Stony Mountain. However, an alert citizen discovered a culprit in his garage and detained the suspect until Stonewall RCMP arrived.
The suspect vehicle identified in Stonewall was recovered in the immediate area.
RCMP report that a 17-year-old male youth who is a resident of the RM of St. Andrews has been arrested and will face multiple charges relating to these incidents. He has been released on a promise to appear in Stonewall Provincial court on December 16, 2013.
Police say that the vehicle recovered had been reported stolen in the City of Winnipeg.
