Staying alive is simple…make the smart choice
One of the riskiest driving behaviours is getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while impaired, yet approximately 40 people lose their lives in Manitoba each year as a result of impaired driving. The consequences are tragic and preventable.
Impaired driving remains the leading criminal cause of death, but that is a statistic you can help change by making the choice not to drive impaired and by calling your local law enforcement agency to report any suspected impaired drivers. We can all work together to keep impaired drivers off the road. It works. More than half the impaired drivers Manitoba RCMP apprehended in 2012 were caught as a result of a call from the public.
Everyone needs to take responsibility and make the smart choice to plan ahead. Make your decisions while sober. Those decisions are what will get you and drivers sharing the road with you home safely. You could save a life by taking the time to ask yourself one question: Is it worth it?
Is it worth it to leave your family mourning you? Is it worth it to live the rest of your days knowing you have destroyed someone else’s family? Is it worth it to suffer through debilitating pain? Is it worth it to never go home again?
Stay safe on the road. Please make the smart choice when you pick up your keys. Your family will thank you for it.
