On October 4, 2013, just after 8:30am, Selkirk RCMP and area EMS were dispatched to a collision involving an ATV along Highway 9, 2 km northwest of Selkirk.
RCMP officers arrived on scene and found the ATV with the rider deceased nearby.
Initial investigation indicates that the 59-year-old Selkirk man lost control of the ATV and collided with a hay bale, causing the ATV to flip.
A RCMP Traffic Analyst will be assisting with the investigation and alcohol has not been ruled out as a contributing factor.
Police say that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
