Young Artists in Concert is pleased to present Rebecca Woodmass, performing at the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre on October 25.
Soprano Rebecca Woodmass, originally from Steinbach, has been capturing the imagination of her audiences with her joy, openness of spirit, and her clear, bell-like voice. Her versatility and fearlessness have led her from the stages of Canada’s concert halls down to the platform of the Montreal metro stations and back, singing standard and contemporary classical repertoire, as well as Celtic and folk tunes.
Just this season, Rebecca was awarded an Encouragement Award at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, just after winning the Étoiles du Metro competition for buskers in the Montreal metro system. Rebecca will make her professional New York City debut this May in Herbert’s ‘Sweethearts’ with Light Opera New York, and has been offered a full scholarship to perform and train at the Atlantic Music Festival in Maine this summer. In December, she joined the Trinity Wall Street Choir to sing backup for the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary concert tour in New York. In her final performance with Opera McGill, she will reprise the Queen of the Night with Boris Brott and his McGill Chamber Orchestra.
Committed to a captivating and accurate representation of the music of our time, Rebecca has interpreted new and contemporary works under the auspices of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra New Music Festival and more.
