A Pukatawagan man has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of his uncle.
At about 10:30pm Friday May 1st., Pukatawagan RCMP responded to a call of an injured man on the Pukatawagan First Nation. Upon arrival, they observed a lone male suspect flee from the residence. The suspect, Morris Brian Francois (30), was arrested near the scene. His uncle, Ernest Hunter (44), also of Pukatawagan, was found deceased in his residence.
The Pukatawagan RCMP Detachment, assisted by the Winnipeg RCMP Serious Crime and Major Crime Units and Winnipeg Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
A post mortem is scheduled at St. Boniface hospital in Winnipeg on Sunday May 3rd. Francois has been remanded to appear in the Pas Provincial Court on Monday, May 4, 2009.
