On October 12, 2013, just after 8pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Home Street in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Portage la Prairie RCMP and Portage la Prairie Police Dog Section assisted in the search.
Upon executing the warrant officers located and seized marijuana, prescription drugs, a sum of cash and paraphernalia consistent with that used for the trafficking of marijuana.
Police say that as a result of the execution of the search warrant, nine people in total were arrested, four youth and five adults.
RCMP report that 19-year-old Brenden Choken of Portage la Prairie, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as possession of proceeds of crime under the Criminal Code.
Police are asking that anyone with information regarding drug trafficking, to please call their local police agency or RCMP Detachment.
