On the morning of October 24, 2013, Amaranth RCMP executed two search warrants at residences in Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba. Portage la Prairie RCMP, Portage la Prairie Crime Reduction Unit, Integrated Gang Intelligence Unit, Sandy Bay Dakota Ojibway Police Service and the National Weapon Enforcement Support Team assisted in the search.
As a result of the search, various types of ammunition, 6 long guns, bear mace and Cocaine and marijuana were seized.
RCMP report that a 16-year-old male youth of Sandy Bay First Nation, was arrested and charged with numerous drug and firearm related offences.
Police say that the youth was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court. Firearms related charges are pending against an adult male.
