On May 4th, 2008 at 12:45 p.m., Gimli RCMP responded to a vehicle related incident that occurred seven miles south of Gimli in a gravel Quarry of a local business.

Investigation revealed that a 57 year old male had been operating an older model military Jeep-like vehicle in the Quarry when he was ejected from the vehicle sustaining serious injuries.

The driver was transported to the Gimli Health Center and then to the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg due to the severity of his injuries. At 7:35 p.m., the driver passed away at the Health Sciences Center.

The victim’s name and address is being withheld at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled for this date to determine the exact cause of death.

Gimli RCMP  continue to investigate this matter in conjunction with Workplace Health and Safety due to it occurring at a work site.
