Premier Greg Selinger today proclaimed November 18 to 23, 2013, as School Support Staff Recognition Week.
“It takes a team to ensure our children have a quality education and can reach their full potential in school. School support staff are an integral part of that team as they dedicate themselves to supporting students from kindergarten to Grade 12 throughout our province,” said the premier.
School support staff work in a variety of occupations such as custodians, bus drivers, educational assistants, clerical support staff, library technicians, maintenance, trades and mechanical positions, community liaison workers, IT support staff, attendance and safety officers, couriers and food service workers.
“This proclamation gives us an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the valuable work being done by school support staff. We hope parents and community members take an opportunity to thank school support staff for the valuable role that they play in the lives of our children,” said Education and Advanced Learning Minister James Allum.
