On November 21, 2013, at approximately 4am, Dauphin Municipal RCMP officers were on patrol on 1st Street S.E., when they witnessed a male that appeared to be attempting to break into a vehicle.
Police say that the male, a 19-year-old Dauphin male, was pursued on foot by the officers and arrested. He was found to be in possession of a bag which contained numerous items that he had stolen from a number of different vehicles.
The items stolen consisted of electronics, jewelry, medication, cash and various other items of value. Some of the items which were recovered have not yet been reported to the police as stolen. If you have been the victim of a theft, please report it to the Dauphin RCMP so the property can be returned.
RCMP report that the accused has been released on an undertaking with conditions and is to make his first court appearance in Dauphin on January 7, 2014.
Dauphin RCMP would like to remind citizens to lock their vehicles when unattended. If you must leave items in your vehicle, ensure they are secured and out of sight. These crimes are often times opportunistic and stolen property is very difficult to recover as it changes hands quickly.
