RCMP D Division is taking a page out of Santa’s book and distributing more than 4,000 pounds of toys to children throughout the province through the Toys for the North project.
Many of the children receiving toys this year live in remote Manitoba communities. The RCMP is honoured to be able to contribute to the festive holiday season in these communities by arranging for the delivery of toys as well as necessities such as diapers and winter wear.
Toys for the North is a partnership between the RCMP, the Canadian Toy Association and the Toronto Zoo, but private businesses and the public have also shown their generosity by donating to this very worthy campaign.
RCMP D Division received toys shipped from Toronto to Winnipeg aboard a CC-130 Hercules aircraft courtesy of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The toys will now be distributed throughout Manitoba by RCMP detachments and the MKO Santa Express in the North.
RCMP members are personally dedicated to the communities in which they live and work, and being a part of the Toys for the North program truly expresses that dedication.
