On December 16, 2013, the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested 29-year-old Shelly Lynne Chartier of Easterville, Manitoba on 13 new charges of personation and fraud.
Previously, on January 15, 2013, RCMP investigators arrested Chartier on charges of possessing child pornography, personation, extortion, transmitting child pornography and uttering threats.
The most recent charges involve 11 individuals Chartier impersonated or defrauded. She appeared in court on December 19 and is released on conditions. Her next court appearance is January 15, 2014, in Easterville.
The Manitoba RCMP would like to acknowledge the continued support and cooperation of Colorado’s Douglas County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation. Cooperation between law enforcement agencies is essential to ensure public safety.
