On December 25, 2013, shortly before 6pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the intersection of Kroeker and Main Street.
Police investigation revealed that while walking along Main Street, a 14-year-old girl was approached from behind by two other female youth, asking her for a smoke. The girl started to run home, however was stopped by the two female youth. The girl was physically assaulted and had her purse stolen from her.
With the assistance of the brother of the victim, who had run after the suspects, police located and arrested both of the female youth responsible for the robbery.
Police say that the victim was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
RCMP report that both the 12-year-old and 13-year old females of Steinbach, Manitoba, have been charged for robbery. Both will appear in Steinbach Provincial Court on February 13, 2014.
