On December 27, 2013, shortly after 9am, Roblin and Russell RCMP, along with Shell River Fire and Rescue, responded to a semi-trailer collision on Highway 5 at the hill, at Lake of the Prairies.

Police investigation suggests that a semi-trailer traveling west on Highway 5 had jack-knifed and slid into the ditch. The semi-trailer was hauling grain at the time of the collision.
RCMP report that the 40-year-old driver of the semi-trailer was transported to local hospital and then later to Winnipeg hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was from Grandview, MB.
