On December 28, 2013, shortly after 1pm, RCMP East District Traffic Services along with local EMS responded to motor vehicle collision on Highway 7.

Police investigation reports that Stonewall RCMP members, operating a Ford F150 truck, had stopped on Highway 7 to check on the well-being of occupants in a Chev Impala which had gone into the ditch. A Pontiac Montana van proceeding south collided into the back of the police vehicle which had emergency equipment fully activated. This collision caused other vehicles to take evasive action which resulted in a Chevrolet Malibu going into the ditch.

Two other vehicles were able to narrowly make it through the collision scene, while another vehicle went across the median and was able to recover prior to colliding with any oncoming traffic.

RCMP report that the young male driver of the Pontiac Montana received minor injuries.

Blowing snow and poor visibility were contributing factors in this incident. RCMP advise motorists to adjust their driving for the weather conditions. Slow down, drive with caution and increase your distance between other vehicles.
