On December 31, 2013, just after 11:30pm, Carman RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a motor vehicle and pedestrians on Reinfeld Street South in Reinfeld, Manitoba, east of Winkler.
Initial police investigation indicates that a 1997 Toyota Tacoma was traveling south on Reinfeld Street South when it struck a male and two females who were walking on the roadway.
RCMP report that the male and one of the females that were injured attended Boundary Trails Health Centre in Winkler for treatment. The second female, 18 years of age, was severely injured and taken to Winnipeg hospital in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries late on January 1, 2014. The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old male from the Winkler area, was not injured.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be assisting with the ongoing investigation.
