On January 8, 2014, shortly after 6:30pm, Headingley RCMP, along with area EMS and fire were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and PR 332 in the RM of Cartier.
Police say that a Chevrolet Suburban, traveling west, proceeded to turn south onto PR332 when it was struck the passenger side rear door of an eastbound Pontiac G6. There were three occupants in the Pontiac G6 and three occupants in the Chevrolet Suburban.
RCMP report that all three occupants in the Pontiac G6 and one from the Suburban were transported to Winnipeg hospital with multiple injuries, none believed to be life-threatening at the time. The driver and front passenger of the suburban were treated and released by EMS.
Headingley RCMP were later advised that a passenger of the Pontiac, a 68-year-old man from Oak Lake, had succumbed to his injuries. The other two occupants in the Pontiac, a 63-year-old female and 67-year-old female, as well as a 38-year-old female passenger from the Suburban, remained in hospital.
Alcohol is not a factor in this collision. An RCMP Traffic Analyst, along with members of Headingley RCMP, continue to investigate.
