A Brandon man is facing impaired driving charges after being investigated by police this past week in the RM of Whitehead.
On January 19, 2014, shortly after 4pm, RCMP Westman Traffic Service officer observed a vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed on Highway 1 in the RM of Whitehead. The eastbound vehicle was stopped, the male driver, who was traveling with three passengers, was found to be exhibiting signs of impairment. He was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and later provided breath samples that were above the legal limit.
RCMP report that John Blaikie, 66, of Brandon, Manitoba, has been charged with impaired driving and driving over .08. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Brandon Provincial Court on March 3, 2014.
