A Dauphin youth is facing numerous charges, including assaulting a peace officer, after being arrested this past week in Dauphin, Manitoba.

On January 31, 2014, at approximately 9:30pm, RCMP officers on patrol in Dauphin observed a group of youths walking on 6th Avenue S.W. The officers recognized one of the youths and knew him to be on probation with a curfew. As the youth was being handcuffed and being placed under arrest by the officers, he punched one of the officers in the face and then ran from the officers. The officers ran after him a short distance and took him back into custody.

RCMP report that the youth, a 16-year-old from Dauphin, has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and breach of probation.

Police say that the officer was not seriously injured in this incident
