On February 5, 2014, just after 6pm, St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 59, three kilometres south of Ile des Chenes. Upon arrival, RCMP found an SUV on its roof in the ditch on the east side of the highway. Local EMS and Fire Department were on scene.
Police say that a 32-year-old male driver from Stony Mountain, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He sustained no injuries in the collision. RCMP officers noticed signs of impaired behaviour from the driver. A breath test was administered, resulting in a reading of more than twice the legal limit.
RCMP report that the male driver has been charged with impaired driving and driving over .08. He was released on a promise to appear in Winnipeg court on April 11, 2014.

RCMP would like to remind the public that impaired driving tragedies are completely preventable, but unfortunately, people are still choosing to drive while impaired despite the dangers associated with this high-risk behaviour. Road safety has been and will continue to be a top priority for the RCMP and they are committed to eliminating impaired driving.
