As part of an integrated traffic initiative, local RCMP and the Ste. Anne Police Department are joining forces to meet and improve upon road safety goals.
The next time you’re pulled over on the highway it might just be a Ste. Anne Police Officer. Although the Town of Ste. Anne Police generally limit their policing to the small town, they recently joined forces with the RCMP as part of an integrated traffic initiative. One officer is seconded from the Ste. Anne Police department to work traffic with the RCMP thought Eastern Manitoba. This form of integrated traffic in new to Manitoba but very common in other parts of the country.
“I think it’s great that the RCMP is taking a real leadership role in spearheading something like this. I’m sure it will open up other opportunities for small municipal departments in the province. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our officers to gain experience doing something different. Something like this also provides for great partnership building between departments. The department of justice has also been very supportive of this initiative and open to alternative ideas on how we can better combat crime and make Manitoba safer”. ~ Chief Robichaud
