Early during the morning hours of February 15, 2014, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP detachment received a report of a snowmobile theft. The report stated that a black Yamaha VMax 500 XT had been stolen from the back yard of a home on Merrell Avenue.
Investigators identified a suspect and arrested 25-year-old Leroy Christopher Thompson, of Dauphin, later in the day. Thompson has been charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of recognizance. He has been remanded in custody to appear in Dauphin Provincial Court.
Police say that the snowmobile has not yet been recovered. Anyone with information on this theft is asked to call the Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5020.
