Member of Parliament for Provencher, Ted Falk, participated in a citizenship ceremony yesterday, seeing many new Canadians take an oath of Citizenship.
“I was honoured to participate in such an important event,” said MP Falk. “It was encouraging to see so many new Canadians take an oath of Citizenship. The joy and excitement displayed on the faces of the new citizens caused me to reflect on how my grandparents must have felt at their citizenship ceremony in the 1920’s.”
The event was hosted in Winnipeg at the Via Rail Station where 80 new Canadian Citizens were presented Canadian Citizenship Certificates. Judge McCrae administered the oath, while MP Falk had the honour of presenting a Canadian flag pin to our new citizens and had the opportunity to congratulate them.
“Canada is a wonderful place to live,” said MP Falk. “The freedoms that we enjoy here exist because Canadians act according to our fundamental beliefs. As a Canadian and a Member of Parliament, I want to welcome these citizens to their new home.”
Also in attendance were representatives from the Canadian Forces and the RCMP who presented the ‘Symbols of Canada’ book and a Canadian flag respectively.
