On May 14, 2009 around 10:45 AM Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a workplace injury at the Portage Credit Union Centre (multiplex) construction site on Island Park.
Portage Fire Department were already on scene and two workers had been transported to Portage General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries before police arrived to the site.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation, however it is believed the injuries may have been caused by a fall. The two workers were both men and from the Portage la Prairie area. Their names will not be released.
No foul play is suspected and the investigation has been turned over to Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health.
