Manitoban race car driver and Niverville native, David Richert, took to the track for the first time this season driving Inter Europol Competition’s Formula Renault 2.0 race car at the Hockenheimring in Germany. This was the opening event for the 2014 race season as 17 cars took to the track for the Northern European Cup Official Test Days.
Although an electrical problem with the race car limited track time, a problem which was eventually solved by swapping steering wheels, Richert was able to make steady progress over the two days.
We still need to find a little bit more speed but it was satisfying to see my lap times drop. Gaining experience is vital as some of these guys have done over 5,000km in the car already, I have only 500km, so I need to learn but learn quickly. ~ David Richert
Richert will be back on track next week for a two day test at the famous Nurburgring in Germany. The first race weekend is scheduled for April 11-13 at Monza in Italy.
