RCMP Officers across Manitoba continued with targeted enforcement in support of the National Impaired Driving Enforcement Strategy this past weekend.

In early December the RCMP launched a National Impaired Driving Enforcement Strategy to increase efforts to end drinking and driving and drug impaired driving through proactive education and enforcement campaigns.

On March 22, 2014, officers checked over 2,200 vehicles. Fourteen drivers were charged with impaired driving by alcohol, while one driver was charged with impaired by drug.

Manitoba RCMP would like to remind the public that road safety in the province has been and will continue to be a top priority and that they are committed to eliminating impaired driving and the tragedies that are all too often associated with this high-risk behaviour. A small decision can have great consequences. Let’s make the right choice before we get behind the wheel. Everyone has the right to come home safe.
