On April 2, 2014, just before 5:30am, Portage RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 34, approximately 8 kilometres south of Austin, Manitoba.
Police say that a minivan was traveling north on Highway 34 when it collided with a farm implement being towed by a southbound pickup truck. The minivan rolled, landing on its roof.
RCMP report that the 74-year-old male driver of the minivan, from Holland, Manitoba, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 67-year-old male passenger was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The 30-year-old male driver of the pickup truck, from Swan Lake, Manitoba, was not injured.
The investigation continues with the assistance of a RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, the RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team and Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation.
