Manitoban race car driver and Niverville native, David Richert, has completed his last two days of preseason testing at the Nurburgring in advance of his first race weekend this Fri-Sun (April 11-13) at the historic circuit of Monza in Italy.
The famous F1 circuit at Nurburgring, Germany, proved to be a challenging track which provided Richert with an excellent platform to continue his learning process in the Formula Renault 2.0 race car. After a slow start to the test, due to a fuel pump issue, Richert was able to complete the test session with positive results.
The Nurburgring was a challenging circuit to get right and it was difficult to get into a rhythm with so many other cars on track at the same time. I’m happy with the progress I’ve made and the things learned should apply well into the future. ~ David Richert
All of this testing has been a precursor for the official start of the 2014 race season as April 11-13 will be the first two races of the Northern European Cup (NEC) which will take place at the ultra high-speed circuit of Monza, just outside of Milan, Italy.
Richert will be Canada’s lone representative this weekend as 32 drivers from 19 different countries seek to get their seasons off to a roaring start.
As a driver you always want to finish well, but I also don’t want to lose focus of the long term plan here, which is to gain as much experience this season as possible. So I’ll need to find a balance of taking risks for good results now, versus trying to complete as many laps as possible and learn as much as I can so I will be an even better driver moving forward. ~ David Richert
Practice and Qualifying are scheduled to take place on Friday, April 11th, with Race 1 taking place on Saturday afternoon and Race 2 following on Sunday morning.
