On May 15, 2009 around 9:30 PM Portage la Prairie RCMP and Portage Fire Department responded to a complaint of a house on fire on the 200 block of 5th Ave NE.
PFD were able to put out the fire before it could spread. No one was in the house at the time and no injuries were reported.
No damage estimate has been provided. The Office of the Fire Commissioner attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The fire is believed to be suspicious, and the investigation is continuing.
