A La Broquerie resident is facing impaired driving charges after being arrested by Steinbach RCMP earlier this week.
On June 11, 2014, at 7:30 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a complaint regarding an erratic driver. There were concerns that the vehicle was nearly colliding with other vehicles while traveling through Steinbach.
Police located the vehicle, with the driver eventually stopping in the middle of an intersection on Highway 12.
Police say that the driver refused to provide a breath sample, but was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was convicted for impaired driving approximately a month ago and was prohibited from driving. Investigation also revealed that the manner in which the vehicle was being driven was dangerous to the public.
RCMP report that Morteza Sheikhi-Darani, a 55-year-old resident of La Broquerie, has been charged accordingly and remanded in custody.
