On June 12, 2014, just after 11am, The Pas RCMP responded to a report of two males wandering the streets in Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) with a firearm. Police immediately located two male youths from OCN, arrested them and recovered an air pistol in their possession.

Police say that a second report of a firearm was made. Initial investigation points to this report being related to the first incident.

RCMP report that schools and businesses in The Pas and OCN went into lockdown as a precaution. After 1pm, schools in OCN and The Pas reopened, after RCMP advised that there was no longer an active threat to the public.
