On June 16, 2014, at approximately 8:30am, Steinbach RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Highway 52 and Rockwood Street in Steinbach.
The collision involved a school bus and a pickup truck. Police say that the school bus was traveling east on Highway 52 when the driver initiated a u-turn across two eastbound lanes at Rockwood Street. The school bus was then hit by an eastbound pickup truck.
RCMP report that 15 children, along with a 73-year-old male bus driver, were on board the bus at the time of the collision. They were not injured. The 19-year-old male driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old adult male passenger and a 31-year-old adult female passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The passengers of the pickup truck were determined not be wearing their seatbelts.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene to help with the ongoing investigation.
